JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University women's basketball team added three individual honors to their 2014 National Christian College Athlete Association (NCCAA) MidEast Region Championship. Union junior
Amy Philamlee and senior
LaTesa McLaughlin were named MidEast All-Region first team players, while head coach
Mark Campbell was named the region coach of the year.
Philamlee, a 5-foot-5 guard from Jonesboro, Ark., leads Union in scoring with 17.9 points per game on the season. She also leads Union with 59 made 3-pointers at a 45 percent clip. She is tops in free throw percentage (.871) and makes (149). This is the second straight first team all-region.
McLaughlin, a 5-foot-5 guard from Millington, Tenn., averaged 10.4 points per game. She led Union with 148 assists (5.3/game) and 67 steals (2.4) per game. She is a 43-percent (41-95) shooter from long range.
Mark Campbell in his 15
th season as Union's head coach, is now 478-66 (.879). He has lead his teams to at least a top three finish in each of the last nine national tournaments (four 1
st place, two 2
nd place, three 3
rd place).
